Personal Counseling

What should you expect when you start?

You will be able to express your concerns in an emotionally safe environment. All your worriesand frustrations will be met with careful consideration.

Counseling is like a laboratory of inner personal experience. You can examine your behavior, understand your needs and explore your choices in a non judgmental environment. It gets personal!

My role is to gently challenge you through questions, encourage you to become introspective, support you as you change and guide you toward more effective behaviors. In our sessions you will have my undivided attention and you will be met with empathy, honesty and understanding.

My intention is to help you become more comfortable with your own feelings, gain insight into your own unconscious wishes, and find more of who you really are. Surprising yourself, understanding yourself and learning to accept yourself fully are steps towards a happier life.

Will counseling help?

Counseling has been proven to help alleviate anxiety and depression and restore health. Beyond that counseling offered additional benefits. Here are a few:

  • You will learn how to manage emotions like jealousy, anger or fear of rejection effectively.
  • You will attain understanding of yourself, your goals, and your values.
  • You will learn how you create trouble for yourself.
  • You will develop better communication skills and improve your relationships at home and at work.
  • You will understand how your mind creates obstacles that get you stuck and learn how to remove them.
  • You will feel your self-esteem improve, and you will have a surge of inner strength.
  • You will feel confident and in control of difficult situations.

There is caveat!

You must be a willing participant for any change to take place. You are the middleman between your therapist and your problem! You must be motivated to examine uncomfortable questions and look at the truth as it arises in therapy.

More about the sessions:

The first session will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end you will have some first impressions of what the work will be like. You should also take the time to think how comfortable you are and bring any questions you have in the following session.

Please keep in mind that for therapy to be effective it is best to get started when you are really motivated to do the work required. It often involves discussing sensitive and unpleasant personal aspects of your life and you may experience uncomfortable feelings like guilt, frustration, hopelessness even feel that things are getting worse before they get better; but they do get better. Just trust in the process of healing.

The counseling experience is like a journey of self discovery. It is the opportunity to lean how to safeguard yourself against the stresses of life, and find balance even under the most difficult circumstances. We will work collaboratively to determine what works best in your life. You can expect to walk away from each session feeling more peaceful and balanced.
